Safety Audits, Operations & Skippers
Remote sites run on boats that can't afford to break down. I audit what you have, set up systems that work, train your team, and supply skippers I'd trust with my own boat. On-site anywhere in Southern Africa, or by call.

Keeping boats, crews and remote sites running
Safety audits
Boats, gear and procedures checked by experienced eyes. Hull, tubes, engines, fuel, electrics, safety gear and launch procedures. You get a written report with a prioritised fix list. Pre-purchase inspections too.
Operations setup
Setting up and running boat operations and maintenance schedules for lodges, reserves and remote camps. Checklists your team can actually follow.
Crew training
Boat handling, launching and recovery, and basic mechanics, so your team can deal with day-to-day issues without waiting for help.
Fleet repairs
Rubber duck, outboard and trailer repairs for your fleet, with the same full inspection I do for every boat.
Skippers I'd trust with my own boat
Finding a skipper you can rely on is hard. I personally vet every skipper I put forward: their tickets, their sea time and how they handle a boat. If I wouldn't put them on my boat, I won't put them on yours.

How it works
15 years looking after one fleet

Alistair LouwCommon questions from operators
Do you work outside KZN and South Africa?
Yes. Safety audits, operations work and skipper supply are available anywhere in Southern Africa and further afield.
How do you vet the skippers you recommend?
I only put forward skippers I have personally worked with on the water. If I wouldn't trust them with my own boat, I won't send them to yours.
Do you work on retainers or once-off projects?
Both, and retainers are preferred. Often it starts with one bigger project to get things right, then a monthly retainer to keep them that way.
